It Takes A Village
Introducing It Takes A Village, a new training and support system for parents. This series will be on understanding and changing behaviors with your child. These may be behaviors that are oppositional in nature, but they may just be innocent behaviors that are a result of a lack of skill in a particular area. Want to help your sensory seeking child learn to keep their hands to themselves? Want to help your impulsive child slow down and think before hitting a friend? Want to help your anxious child be able to go to bed on their own? Want to find the sweet spot of encouraging your child to take responsibility for their actions without shaming them? This is the place for you.
I love providing child and family therapy. But one downside to it is there's not an efficient way to communicate all the strategies and tools I've learned to parents. Parents have limited time when they aren't with their children, and they also have life to attend to. It Takes A Village is my attempt to provide informational and supportive content to parents, allow parents to support each other, and then process, troubleshoot, and ask questions together. It's the benefit of a parenting class and support group, with the convenience and familiarity of social media. This class can be a supplement to your child's existing therapy (with me or with another professional) or it can stand alone as a tool to strengthen your family and possibly reduce the need for therapy.

Here's how it works: on Mondays, I'll send out some content for parents to read via email. I have compiled a condensed and cumulative version of various parenting books, websites, and articles I often use. Think of it as a Clif Notes on all things parenting. These readings will usually be 6-8 pages long and will not require much time out of your week to read. I will also include some additional reading materials for any parents who may want to dive deeper into these topics. Once you've registered for the 8 week class, you will also be encouraged to join a closed Facebook group just for parents who are in your class. Everyone in the group will be receiving the same content each week, and my hope is that you will use that space to discuss your reactions, questions, trials and successes with your child(ren). I am changing the format of this round to try to make it more accessible to more parents. I will not be doing a facebook live video every week, but I will still be responding to questions and helping to troubleshoot or clarify based on your posts.
To register for the class, you must sign a consent form via my electronic health records system, and allow automatic billing of your debit or credit card. The fee is $40 for this version (previously $100 per month) and insurance will not cover the cost of the online class. Cards will be charged $40 the first week of the class.
If your business/club/organization has 10+ parents interested in participating, I could facilitate a private version for your group, working with you to create the timeline.

Registration is now closed for the moms in private practice group that will start 9/7. Everyone who has registered should have received an email with instructions. If not, feel free to send me an email so we can get that corrected. We are at capacity with this group with 300+ registrants.
